The Cause of Dynamic Wrinkles

Dynamic wrinkles are caused by your muscles pulling at the skin when you make facial expressions. Thanks to the presence of collagen, your skin is very elastic… like anything stretchy, it starts to lose its “snap” over time. What Can I Expect from My Treatment?

Before your treatment, we’ll discuss your goals and areas of concern, so your practitioner can create an injection pattern that is tailored directly to your concerns. Some patients choose to numb the area with a cold pack prior to injecting. The entire procedure takes approximately 10 minutes. Discomfort is minimal and brief—most patients compare the sensation to a bug bite. There’s no downtime and most patients return to work or their normal activities. 

We recommend applying a cold compress to the treatment area to help reduce any soreness or residual swelling. Some patients experience minor redness or bruising, but these are easily concealed with makeup. Within days of receiving your BOTOX, you’ll notice improvement to the treatment area. The most common side effects are mild bruising at the injection site. Temporary drooping of the eyelids, headaches, and flu-like symptoms are rare side effects of the treatment. These side effects are never permanent and will reverse in a few weeks.

Yes! One of the most remarkable things about BOTOX is that not only does it reduce the appearance of existing lines, but it also prevents the formation of new ones…effectively “stopping the clock” on part of the aging process.

Is this procedure safe?

BOTOX has been approved by the FDA for the treatment of conditions from severe muscles spasms to migraine headaches. Neuromodulators have been used for more than 40 years with no long-term side effects.

Are the injections painful?

Your Recovery and Results

You should not engage in strenuous exercise for the first 24 hours after your treatment. Avoid anything that applies direct pressure to the injected area, such as tight hats, ski or swim goggles, or massage tables for 24 hours. Avoid blood thinners such as ibuprofen, aspirin, or red wine for 24 hours, as these can make bruising more likely. We recommend getting your BOTOX quarterly and will work with you to set up a treatment schedule that works alongside your existing routine.
