The Melanage peel will be performed in our office. This does not hurt and no anesthesia is required. A Melanage Masque will be applied and you will leave the office with the masque on your face. This masque will remain on your face for 5 to 10 hours according your skin type (for a Mini peel the masque remains in place for 2-4 hours). You will be given instructions and a full supply of home care products so that you can follow the recommended at-home after-care regimen.

What results can I expect?

Results vary but generally patients will see a significant improvement in the appearance of Melasma and other pigmented areas of the skin. Hyperpigmentation will lighten and skin texture and tone will improve. Most but not all patients experience peeling and/or flaking skin.

What areas can be treated?

All skin areas can be treated.

How many treatments will I need?

For the Melanage Skin Lightening Peel, one to two treatments are recommended. The peel can be repeated 5-6 months following the first treatment if it is needed. The Melanage Mini Skin Brightening Peel is less aggressive than the Melanage Skin Lightening Peel. Although individual results vary, two Mini peels can deliver the same results as one full peel, and they can be preformed one month apart.

What happens if my skin doesn’t peel?

Don’t worry if your skin doesn’t peel after having a Melanage Peel because you are still receiving all of the benefits of the peel including collagen stimulation, improved skin tone and texture, reduction of fine lines and improved pigmentation. Although most people do have peeling and flaking, not everyone does.

Does the Melanage Peel work on all skin types?

Unlike some lasers, the Melanage Peel works on all skin types, including darker skin. The Melanage Peels are a breakthrough for dark skinned patients for the treatment of hyperpigmentation, fine lines, tone and texture.
